Drum Motorsports & Kyle Drum

Kyle and 2010

At this point in time Kyle is looking for a ride in 2010. Once back in a sprint car this past summer Kyle decided that is where he wanted to be. When the 2010 season was discussed and plans made with Paul for the season, things were great. Paul's untimely death has put Kyle on the out side looking in for 2010. So.... if your looking for a driver with great experience and who has won the big races, please don't hesitate to contact Kyle.

Hoping 2010 is a great year for everyone!!!!

PJ Motorsports Complete Sale

We are in the process of helping PJ's family settle his estate. In order to do this all of the racing equipment needs to be sold. The link below will take you to the page with a listing of equipment. The 2008 Avenger is NOT assembled but everything is there to put it together as can been seen in the pictures. There is no junk here. PJ did not keep anything that was not good and he took very good care of everything he owned.

Please contact us through e mail cassie45@frontiernet.net if interested. At this point we are trying to sell everything as a complete package. If you are not serious or don't have the money please do not waste your time or mine. Thank you for looking.

Paul Johnson

We attended Paul's funeral yesterday in Jamestown. We also learned a great deal more about Paul the individual. He was 70 years old and continued to work as a machinist on a full time basis. Kyle once ask him why he still worked full time and he replied, "it takes money to keep this car going." Needless to say Kyle of all people knew that. We heard from several people that Kyle helped Paul live is dream. He was very proud of what he and Kyle were able to accomplish together. So are we....

2010 was going to be a very good season as Paul was already getting things ready. We were at the shop only to find the car going back together with many new light weight parts and many more on order. Kyle and Paul talked on the phone every 10 days or so with Paul updating Kyle on his progress and plans.

Paul was a very giving man, helping family and friends in need many times in his life. It was truly our pleasure to have know Paul Johnson...... we will miss him.

Paul Passes Away!

It is with the deepest of sympathy that we announce that Paul passed away yesterday, Sunday November 22. Shaun stopped by Paul's shop and found him in the shop where he had been working on the car.

Kyle did not know Paul long but they had developed a very good relationship as driver owner and as friends. Paul really knew how to set a car up and always gave Kyle a good car to drive. For Paul racing was his life. It only seems fitting that he passed doing what he loved most. Paul... you will be greatly missed....

Getting Ready for 2010

Paul and Kyle will be teaming up again next year. Paul has already started going through the equipment making improvements as he goes along. The plans call for the team to run all the local races such as Stateline, Canandaigua, Black Rock, Eriez, etc. with a few trips to Sharon. Both Paul and Kyle are not planning on the long trips to Canada etc. They will run the Canadian Nationals once again hoping to improve on the finish. As soon as schedule are posted the teams schedule will be posted.

We at Drum Motorsports and PJ Motorsports would like to wish everyone a happy holiday season.

Special Thanks!

Kyle would like to send a special thanks out to Paul Johnson for letting him drive his cars. This is the first time in Kyle's 17 year career that he has driven someone else's equipment and from his point it could not have worked out better. PJ does a fantastic job taking car of his cars and equipment let alone he knows how to setup a car.

Another big thank you goes out to Shawn Schnars. Shawn is the behind the scenes guy who builds and tunes the engines. What a great job! Kyle can not say enough good about the power plant in PJ's car. Great power range. Thanks Shawn!

And last but not least... Thanks to Tom Taber the perennial coach and friend! Thanks for the support in 2009.

Kyle and PJ will be getting together soon to put together the plans for 2010. What they did together this summer seemed to work well for both and both were smiling. That's a good thing!
